GIFT FOR LIFE FOUNDATION CONTINUES ITS CHARITY DRIVE
Gift for Life Foundation, a registered non – profit charitable organization once again expands its charitable work towards the needy children of our nation. On Sunday 6th September 2009, The Ezekiel Children’s Home, Marian Children’s Home and the Grace Children’s Home graciously allowed us to take their children to Tobago.

Fun on the deck
The children spent a full day of activities in Tobago. Members of Gift For Life Foundation lament the fact that due to minor technical problems with the boat, yet the children had a great time. For some, it was a lifetime experience since they have never left the shores of Trinidad and for others, it was the first time they got a boat ride.

Children are happy as they approach Tobago

Part of the GFLF Team
The mission of Gift for Life Foundation is to involve citizens of Trinidad and Tobago as well as non- citizens to provide opportunities to orphaned, abandoned, and disadvantaged children. The children we are working with have great personalities, and many hidden skills and talents. Our focus is on helping to develop those skills and talents. The country presently has 53 orphanage homes which the public may not be fully aware of, and under humanitarian grounds, we wish to extend our arms to serve them selflessly.

Children anxiously await to reach Tobago
The best gift one can give to a child is one that is everlasting. This gift takes the form of love and affection. Gift for Life Foundation enables people to take responsibility for the situation of underprivileged children in our communities and to motivate them to confront the situation through collective action thereby giving the child and themselves an opportunity to realize their full potential.

The Power of Love from GFLF puts smiles on the Children's faces
The power of love helps to awaken a sense of identity and belonging in a child and to catalyze the process whereby hidden talents can soar to great heights.

On Reaching Tobago
The teachers of the organization were also very instrumental in helping to develop problem solving and critical thinking skills in the children. Some of the children were involved in telling others how clouds were formed and how drinking water could be obtained from salt water, while on the boat.
The humanitarian role of the society requires members and the public at large to play an integral role in fund raising projects such as meal sponsorship, raffle, cake and lunch sales, dinners and concerts. These projects will provide the necessary funding for the organization’s humanitarian work. Members of Gift for Life Foundation are extremely busy with their personal lives and jobs, yet, they make an incredible sacrifice to volunteer their time after work and on weekends to better able to serve the underprivileged children and the needy through this foundation.

Photo Session at Fort Milford
Mr. Nigel Koorasingh, one of the directors of the organization, said that fund raising can be very challenging since members of the public are very cautious to assist because of the number of dishonest persons pretending to raise funds in the name of underprivileged children. Mr. Koorasingh wishes to add that Gift For Life Foundation is NOT affiliated with any specific orphanage home nor do the members raise funds on behalf of any of the home. The non- profit organization has the freedom when it comes to making a decision as to which home needs the most support. Every month the organization plans to assist 3- 5 homes so that in a time frame of probably one year, a helping hand will be given to all the 53 homes in the country. However, this is also highly dependent on the success of the fund raising projects.

Ms Maneka Gokool, the organization’s public relations officer, wishes to apologise to the citizens when its members are seen as constantly or repeatedly requesting them to assist with sponsoring meals for underprivileged children. On behalf of the organization, she also wishes to express her heartfelt gratitude to all those who would have directly or indirectly assisted in the humanitarian work of the organization.

At the Park
