On Sunday 25th August 2024, Gift for Life Foundation (GFLF) hosted its Annual Sports and Family Day with 19 Children’s Homes. One of the main objectives for the day was not just building character, but, revealing it while having fun. Children of different age groups displayed competence, confidence, connections, character, and caring which enhanced their positive youth development.
GFLF encouraged the participation in different sporting events which would have impacted positively on children’s self-esteem and confidence levels. Children who participated were praised and cheered from coaches and volunteers and other adults; such actions from the adults assisted in building self-confidence of the children.
Children also learnt to trust in their own abilities and push themselves which resulted in positive feelings of self-worth. Children of different age groups anxiously took part in the sporting events which created a sense of discipline and cooperation.
The competition was very stiff and the noise and dance coming from the St. Mary’s Children’s made it very clear that the home won the challenge trophy in another consecutive year. Other children’s homes such as Raffa House, Christ Child Convalescent, Joshua Boys’ Children’s Home and Chickland Children’s Home desperately tried to win all the medals and trophies, but despite all the hard work, only 3 of the children’s homes were placed 1st, 2nd and 3rd.
The results were:
1st Place: St. Mary’s Children’s Home, Tacarigua
2nd Place: Ezekiel Home For Abandoned Children, Sesame Street, Preysal
3rd Place: Angel Michael Hostel, Egypt Extension, Enterprise
Gift For Life Foundation sincerely wishes to thank all those who made this event possible. The foundation continues with its outreach project with the hope that the impact of the mental health of our children remains immeasurable.
The foundation was founded 15 years ago and it has the platform to be the voice for the children who feel their voices are unheard. Gift For Life Foundation represents unity and diversity through inclusivity whereby the voices of the children become amplified. Members open their hearts to these loving children and try their best to make the children feel better about themselves.
