Children were given another reason to believe in themselves.
On August 29, 2026, there were races to be won, medals to be earned and trophies to be lifted. But somewhere between the laughter, the cheers and the pounding of little feet against the track at the Pierre Road Recreational Grounds, something far more precious was taking place.
Children from various children’s homes across Trinidad gathered for the Annual Sports & Family Day. For a few unforgettable hours, the sporting field became more than a place for competition. It became a place where children felt seen and celebrated, and were reminded that they mattered.
The Foundation deliberately encouraged participation in a range of sporting activities because it understands the powerful role sport can play in a child’s development. The field became a classroom without walls, where every race taught perseverance, every team activity taught cooperation, every disappointment taught resilience and every cheer fostered a sense of belonging.
The Foundation also extends its deepest gratitude to all the individuals, corporate sponsors, caregivers, volunteers, GFLF members and supporters who helped make the event possible. Their contributions went far beyond financial assistance or logistical support. They gave underprivileged children memories, encouragement, confidence and, perhaps most importantly, hope.
Long after the last race ended and the grounds grew quiet, the children would carry something home with them: memories of laughter, friendship, competition and hundreds of voices reminding them that they could do more than they imagined. That is the gift behind Gift for Life.
