On Sunday 15th June 2025 children from several homes were treated with movies, games, meals and fun. Gift For Life Foundation were able to fill the emotional gaps to hundreds of children by providing them the opportunities to view movies such as: Ballerina (Leap), How To Train Your Dragon and Lilo and Stitch.

The lessons learnt from the movies were:

Movie: “Ballerina” (Leap!)

  1. Follow Your Dreams
  • Félicie, the main character, dreams of becoming a ballerina despite being an orphan with no formal training.
  • Lesson: No dream is too big if you’re willing to work hard and stay committed.
  1. Perseverance Pays Off
  • Félicie faces rejection, failure, and tough competition, but she keeps going.
  • Lesson: Success doesn’t come easily—you need resilience, patience, and determination.
  1. Believe in Yourself
  • At first, Félicie struggles with self-doubt, but she learns to trust her abilities.
  • Lesson: Self-confidence is a powerful tool for achieving your goals.
  1. Hard Work Beats Talent Alone
  • Despite not having the same background as other students, Félicie’s dedication helps her improve.
  • Lesson: Natural talent is helpful, but discipline and effort are what truly lead to growth.
  1. Friendship and Loyalty Matter
  • Victor, her best friend, supports her through thick and thin.
  • Lesson: True friends encourage your dreams and help you stay grounded.
  1. Overcoming Adversity
  • As an orphan, Félicie starts with many disadvantages but refuses to let them define her.
  • Lesson: Your circumstances don’t determine your future—your choices do.
  1. Mentorship is Powerful
  • Odette, a former ballerina, becomes Félicie’s mentor and guide.
  • Lesson: Guidance from experienced mentors can shape your journey and help you grow faster.
  1. Be True to Yourself
  • Félicie eventually realizes she must dance not to impress others, but for the love of it.
  • Lesson: Authenticity leads to fulfillment—do what you love for the right reasons.

Movie: “How to Train Your Dragon”

  1. Understanding Over Fear
  • Hiccup chooses to understand and befriend dragons instead of fearing or fighting them.
  • Lesson: Don’t fear what’s different—understanding builds bridges, not walls.
  1. Be True to Yourself
  • Hiccup isn’t like the other Vikings—he’s curious, kind, and thinks differently.
  • Lesson: It’s okay to stand out and be different. Your uniqueness can be your greatest strength.
  1. Compassion is Powerful
  • Hiccup spares Toothless instead of killing him, showing empathy even in danger.
  • Lesson: Compassion can change hearts and even change the world.
  1. Peace is Possible
  • The movie shows that centuries of conflict between Vikings and dragons could be ended through trust.
  • Lesson: Even in deep-rooted conflict, peace can be achieved through courage and understanding.
  1. Teamwork and Trust
  • Hiccup and Toothless build a strong bond based on mutual trust.
  • Lesson: Great partnerships are built on trust, loyalty, and teamwork.
  1. Courage Isn’t About Being Strong
  • Hiccup proves that real courage is doing what’s right even when it’s hard or unpopular.
  • Lesson: True bravery comes from the heart, not muscle.
  1. Challenge the Status Quo
  • Hiccup questions his tribe’s traditions and shows there’s a better way.
  • Lesson: Progress begins when we dare to question and improve old beliefs.
  1. Everyone Has Value

  • Lesson: Every person has potential and worth, even if it’s not obvious at first.

Movie: “Lilo & Stitch”

  1. ‘Ohana Means Family’
  • The central theme of the movie: “Ohana means family, and family means no one gets left behind or forgotten.
  • Lesson: Family isn’t just about blood—it’s about love, loyalty, and sticking together through hard times.
  1. Everyone Deserves a Second Chance
  • Stitch starts out destructive but learns to love and care because Lilo gives him a chance.
  • Lesson: People can change and grow when they are shown kindness and acceptance.
  1. Embrace Differences
  • Lilo is quirky and different; Stitch is an alien. Yet they find connection.
  • Lesson: Being different isn’t a weakness—it can be a strength. Embrace uniqueness.
  1. Love Can Heal
  • Lilo and Stitch both feel broken in different ways, but their bond helps them heal.
  • Lesson: Love, friendship, and belonging can help overcome pain and loneliness.
  1. Don’t Judge by Appearances
  • Stitch looks dangerous, but he’s capable of great love and loyalty.
  • Lesson: Take time to see what’s inside, not just the outside.
  1. Loss is Part of Life
  • Lilo’s story shows how a child copes with losing parents and living in a broken home.
  • Lesson: Loss hurts, but with love and support, you can rebuild your life.
  1. Importance of Responsibility
  • Nani, Lilo’s sister, takes on the role of caregiver with maturity and love.
  • Lesson: Taking responsibility for others is hard, but it shows strength and commitment.
  1. Friendship is Transformative
  • Stitch goes from a monster to a friend because of the bond with Lilo.
  • Lesson: Friendship can change lives and bring out the best in people (or aliens!).
