GIFT FOR LIFE FOUNDATION TAKES CHILDREN TO TOBAGO
At Pigeon Point, Tobago
Gift for Life Foundation (GFLF) strongly believes that children who are placed in the different children’s homes throughout the country need that extra human touch since it is vacation time again. The benefits of the human touch to a child’s health are phenomenal. It can reassure, relax and comfort to reduce depression, anxiety, stress and physical pain as well healing. GFLF members believe it is a way of communicating, lifting the children’s spirits and experiencing happiness in their lives. Without it, they sometimes experience sadness, loneliness and isolation. On Monday 6th August, 2012 GFLF took 102 children from several children’s homes and poor communities to Tobago. The children’s homes were:
* Jaya Lakshmi Children’s Home, Longdenville
* Florence Wesleyan Foundation Children’s Home, Carapichaima
* Raffa Boys, Curepe
* Raffa Girls, Orange Grove
* Casa de Corazon Children’s Home, Sangre Grande
* Dominic’s Children’s Home, Belmont

Pigeon Point, Buccoo Reef and Nylon Pool provided recreational yet educational activities for both adults and children. They were given memories to last them a lifetime and coming to the end of the journey, the children spent time singing for the Gift for Life Foundation members. They called Mrs Sona Ragoonanan “ the mother of Gift for Life Foundation” and started to sing numerous songs for her when they realized it was her birthday.
GFLF all year round is very instrumental in providing an enjoyable and accessible family oriented fun time for children of different ethnic backgrounds, care givers and GFLF members. All are encouraged to be involved in praying, relaxing, cooking, eating and engaging in a lot of sport/game activities just like in a traditional/ conventional family setting. GFLF puts the interests of underprivileged children ahead of its own and demonstrates love in every action.

Gift For Life Foundation is NOT affiliated with any specific Home nor do the members raise funds on behalf of any of the home. The non- profit organization has the freedom when it comes to making a decision as to which Home needs the most support. Every month the organization plans has been assisting at least 3- 5 homes so that in a time frame of probably one year, a helping hand is given to all the 53 homes in the country. However, this is also highly dependent on the success of the fund raising projects and the kindness of the public and our members.

Ms Maneka Gokool, the organization’s public relations officer wishes to express her heartfelt gratitude to all those who would have directly or indirectly assisted in the humanitarian work of the organization. Special thanks must be given to the Port Authority of Trinidad and Tobago for making the project a very memorable, successful one and for the giving our nation’s children the special love, care and attention they deserved. Gift For Life Foundation looks forward to the continued support of the public for future projects.
