On Saturday 16th September, 2017, Gift for Life Foundation (GFLF) once again played a great role in improving and maintaining the health and fitness in children among the various Children’s Homes in Trinidad & Tobago at our Annual Sports & Family Day.

Competitions included simple things like lime and spoon, sack races, diaper derby races, musical cheers as well as a mixture of wild and wacky events like Island Hop races, Maxi taxi races, and plumber’s competition and for the first time Fisherman’s Catch.

GFLF allowed children to participate in outdoor extracurricular activities that help them explore and develop skills which are considered beneficial throughout their lives. By participating in sports, these children were exposed to various mental, social, emotional, physical and educational benefits.

The children learnt how to accept and cope with losses rather than feeling completely defeated. GFLF members emphasized to the children throughout the event that it was okay not to win them all, to lose a race was also okay. However, they knew to show good sportsmanship and accept defeat.
