Gift For Life Foundation (GFLF) organized its 4th Annual Sports Day 2014 on Sunday 24th August at The Pierre Road Recreational Grounds in Charlieville. 15 Children’s Homes comprising more than 300 children derived immense benefit from such an event.  The children came from the following homes:

  • Angel Michael Hostel For Youths
  • Jai Lakshmi Children’s Home
  • Margaret Kistow Children’s Home

  • Angels on Earth Foundation
  • Swaha Children’s Home
  • Sylphil Home in Love, Tobago

According to CS Lewis Children are not a distraction from more important work, They Are The Most Important Work.” As  GFLF continues with its mandate for the holistic development of children within children’s homes throughout  Trinidad &Tobago, we continue to create avenues of attractive activities for this dynamic group thereby promoting leadership abilities and motivation to attend school and subsequently decrease the number of school drop outs in our beautiful twin island republic.

We believe all the children are winners, the three (3) outstanding  homes were placed as follows:

1st Place: Margaret Kistow Children’s Home, Malabar, Arima

2nd Place: Couva Children’s Home

3rd Place: Angel Michael Hostel For Youths, Egypt Extension, Enterprise.

According to International Platform on Sport & Development (2014):
“Physical education and sport have an educational impact. Changes can be seen in both motor skills development and performance and the educational potential of a child. This shows the positive relationship between being involved in physical activities and psychological development of an individual.”

Even though some homes were a bit disappointed that they did not walk away with the challenge trophy, all the children can attest to the fun sporting activities that tested their problem solving and critical thinking skills in activities such as Island Hop, Diaper Derby, Plumbers Mate and Fisherman’s Catch. Gift For Life Foundation continues to change the lives of orphanage children throughout Trinidad and Tobago. We encourage our citizens to join the foundation in giving love to children. Children within orphanages need that added human touch to blossom into strong, leaders of tomorrow.

On that note, we are pleased to announce that Gift For Life Foundation was awarded 1st place in the NATIONAL YOUTHS AWARDS 2014 by The Ministry of Gender, Youth and Child Development for Volunteer work. As we continue this unique journey of transforming the lives of these children, we wish to extend our heartfelt thanks to our committed supporters – the private sector, many GFLF members and the general public – who assisted in providing the food and amenities to ensure the success of GFLF Sports 2014.
