St. Anthony’s College partners with Gift for Life Foundation

Our young leaders of today are the future leaders of tomorrow. This is the goal of the RBC Young Leaders of St. Anthony’s College. Partnering with the ‘Gift for Life Foundation’, the form four boys of this secondary school enlighten, encouraged and empowered young girls from different Children’s Homes through an educational tour to the Caroni Bird Sanctuary on Sunday 26th January, 2014. The boys displayed leadership skills that promoted and enhanced the quality of life for themselves, their communities and their world.

In collaboration with the NGO, Gift for Life Foundation, the young leaders were able to gain the confidence and knowledge to conduct this educational tour thus learning life skills. They were able to train themselves in all aspects of effective leadership, ranging from teaching skills to motivating the project which empowered girls from different children’s homes. They guided each other through the stages of team development where the opportunity to share ideas and experiences among themselves were enhanced. The young leaders created an environment of fellowship and fun guided by their teachers. They conducted continuous meetings, planned and executed fund raising projects successfully.

The young leaders were taught event planning, communication, team development, teaching, leadership styles, setting goals, problem solving and other leadership skills. They are planning other activities that give will give themselves and the girl’s from different children’s homes a chance to apply their new skills. They will learn how to create a vision of success, set goals and make plans, listen and solve problems, and teach and lead. They will be learning about why it is important to put others’ needs first if you want to be an effective leader. They are given opportunities to make hard decisions and how to remain true young leaders. Young leaders of St. Anthony’s College will work together with the Gift for Life Foundation to achieve its goals with empowering girls from various children’s homes.
