Gift For Life Foundation (GFLF) continues to give love to our nation’s children through monthly and educational events. During the entire month of July, members of the foundation took pride as they organized zoo outings for deprived children from various orphanage homes and rural communities.

The zoo outings offered many incredible learning opportunities. While having a fun day exploring, children not only developed valuable skills and obtained priceless knowledge, but, they were encouraged a healthy lifestyle while bringing family and friends together. As children walked around the zoo, they were exposed to words and concepts and such activity also encouraged dialogue between caregivers, parents and children.

The Wonder And Amazement

While doing so, the children were also trying to label every animal and ask questions and such questioning skills helped them to increase their vocabulary and comprehension skills as well. Mrs. Sona Ragoonanan, senior member of Gift For Life Foundation, delightfully remarked, “I love witnessing the wonder and amazement in the children’s’ eyes as they see an animal for the first time! Their faces light up and their smiles come alive as they point to each animal in excitement.”

Children certainly absorbed a vast wealth of knowledge when they visited the National Emperor Valley Zoo. They used all of their senses to take in their surroundings and expand their understanding about animals and their environment.

The foundation realizes that children are innately curious which allows them to learn and take in their environment, and the zoo outings definitely encouraged curiosity which can help in learning and brain development. Watching the otters swim in their well-designed habitat was a pretty cool setup. The children were really relaxed as they watched them swimming underwater.

Developing Environmental Awareness

The zoo outings also promoted a sense of environmental awareness since such activities assisted the children in understanding the importance of taking care of the environment as it had a significant impact on the lives and welfare of animals.

The teenage children from Ezekiel Home For Abandoned Children spoke about the importance of conservation and animal care and many of them were also sharing the unique stories about each animal as they walked around the zoo.

Petting and Feeding Zones

For many children and adults, the best way to learn is by doing and feeling. The National Emperor Valley Zoo offered petting and feeding areas which allowed kids to truly immerse themselves in the animals lives. Feeding the giraffes was not expensive and it was truly an interactive experience that the children enjoyed immensely and it was an experience the children would never forget! The zoo outings offered a true multi-sensory approach to learning!

GFLF continues to put the interests of underprivileged children ahead and demonstrates selfless love in every action. The Foundation is working very hard to ensure that monthly events become a reality and living experience for children. GFLF is proud to play an immense role in rebuilding self-esteem, self-confidence, interpersonal skills, problem solving and critical thinking skills.
